Hello all,
I am trying to extract two pages from a pdf file without loosing the resolution quality in the pdf document.
I have tried to use the commands
convert file.pdf file.png
convert -compress none -quality 0 file.pdf file.png
pdf2ppm file.pdf file
pdftohtml file.pdf file
gimp file.pdf
and others, but all with the same result - the text in the pages loose quality compared with for example
xpdf file.pdf
What can I do to get the images extracted with the same quality as in the pdf file? |

Just tried with ImageMagick which have made it look much better than the other tries.
It is however still not at the same level as when looking at the file with xpdf, which look perfect even at 400% zoom. |

I did at last find an alternative that fixed my problem even though it did not do what I asked for.
the package (app-text/flpsed ) allowed me to add the text to the pdf without loss of quality. This was different to exporting it to images first, then add those images as background to a document and let the text go above the image, which was my original idea...
The flpsed was a quite ok alternative in this case - even though several options, like text spacing options and font types seem unavailable. |

Try opening the PDF in GIMP. It is a bit fiddly as you have to specify which page & try different resolutions, but it's always worked for me.
