Is there anyplace i can obtain the bare minimum source code to build gentoo with a workable X server. I looked in the CVS but didnt find what i was really looking for |

Umm, you just need to do a manual install and only install what you want, be that X or anything else. USE flags (eg ldap or kerberos) sometimes pull in supporting stuff as well, so go easy on those. If you want to dl all the sources first, your best bet is to run emerge -f xorg-server after you've done the base install. |

Not to be nitpicky, but gentoo itself really doesn't have any source to be compiled. The individual packages to be installed on your system do. This is obvious to anyone who has been using Linux/Gentoo, but the OP might not be aware of how Linux works. _________________ To err is human; To really foul things up requires a computer.
