Hello.
Over the summer I got a new computer with an Abit KN8 SLI Motherboard and a 4200+ processor. I installed gentoo right before I left for school and have a dual boot with Windows XP x64. I have been experiencing problems with my USB in Gentoo from the start. My USB works fine in Windows, and I have found that it works perfectly fine when booting with the x86 gentoo liveCD. USB won't work at all when I boot from the amd64 liveCD or when I install amd64 gentoo on my PC. My question is simply has anybody else with my motherboard encountered the same problem and know of a fix for it or am I just out of luck for a while?
Thanks in advance for any help or insight. |

Sorry for double posting... Just realize it might be more helpful if I gave more details of what happens when plugging in USB devices.
Whenever I do a "dmesg | grep usb" on my install or from the live CD I get error -110 device descriptor error... If more information would be helpful let me know and I will try to get it... |

Thank you for the link... Glad to know I am not the only one having this problem... Do you know if this is something that the developers are looking into at all? Also, I'm not sure technically if it even could help, nor have I tried it, but has anybody tried chrooting into a 32-bit environment for using USB devices? If so did it work? |

I am having the same problem on a 64-bit server after a clean install. The usb keyboard worked fine on the livecd but it does not on the kernel I am using, hardened-sources-2.6.17-r1. |

Has anyone been able to resolve this? Does an older kernel work? Did anyone file a bug report? |

Kernel 2.6.18-hardened resolved the issue for me. |
