How many people here get a little jittery when there are no upgrades? I seem to, and its a bit of a problem, because I sometimes will get the urge to upgrade something (ie., to ~amd64) which may increase the chances of system breakage. For example, I want to give upgrading gcc to 4.1 another go. I cannot decide whether its worth it or not though. I had a poor experience last time I tried...

IM an addict. But I jump on the xgl bandwagon and may very soon jump on the java one 2. I got very nervious a couple of weeks back when the update activity I had to perform was a lot less than normal. Was twitching while looking at packages.gentoo.org and not seeing much of interest being updated.

I'm addicted. I update whenever I need a new feature, will get a lot of use out of a new feature, or there is a bugfix/security update.

I spent a good chunk of the day yesterday trying to force GCC 4.1.1 UCLIBC and PIE patches into the latest GCC 4.2.0 weekly snapshot with very limited luck.

When there are no new ebuilds, make your own!

Hell yeah! And the worst part is, it so fun... . Right now I'm rebuilding my world and I have 131 packages left. I also did the hashstyle thing and then went for Conrad cflags. I might also go for GCC 4.2

You could say I am addicted. I have already pretty much updated as far as I can go. Really the only thing to move on to is the Glibc-2.6 snapshots. But I like a little amount of stability. I am currently using the Conrad guide's CFLAGS, --hash-style, GCC-4.2, Glibc-2.5, Binutils-2.17.50.0.6, ~amd64, the XFCE snapshots.....the list goes on. However, should anyone else attempt using what I am they should prepare for some compiling problems. They are easily fixed by trimming down the Conrad guide's CFLAGS, and removing --as-needed. I could not get KDE to compile with GCC-4.2, which is not that big of a deal because I dont really like KDE....Other than that, my systems living quite well on the bleeding edge.

That's the first step. Admitting that you have a problem.
