|
|
i'm terribly sorry if such a question was asked before. Let me tell you about my problem:
I have downloaded the iso image (the big one including stage3.tbz) to my hdd, and i extracted it with some iso tool (isobuster) because i have no cd-rw. i prepared the partitions (boot, root and swap) just like said in the x86 install guide. then i got myself a generic linux boot disk and booted my computer with it. i mounted the partitions properly, edited /etc/fstab... Extracted the stage3_i.tbz to /mnt/gentoo/ (which will be / later , but i haven't compiled my own kernel, i said to myself "i'll do it later" and copied the generic one in the iso to mnt/gentoo/boot/bzImage. Finally i set up the boot loader and booted for the last time. the loader ran well, everything went fine, until it came up with this error message:
----------------------------------------------------
Gentoo Linux: http://www.gentoo.org
copyright 2001 Gentoo Tech yada yada
*Mounting /proc...
*The "mount" command failed with error:
only root can do that
*Since this is a critical task, startup cannot continue.
Give root password for maintenance
(or type Control-D for normal startup):
----------------------------------------------------
i can do nothing after that. even if i want to create a new dir with "mkdir" it says "only root can do that blah blah blah".
Anyone have a solution? (and sorry for my bad english! |
