Problems with emerge or ebuilds? Have a basic programming question about C, PHP, Perl, BASH or something else?

gaim-encryption-3.0-beta6 won't compile [Solved]

I was excited about a new gaim-enc plugin, since gaim-2.0.0-beta4 broke all my plugins :(
I emerged gaim-2.0.0-beta4-r2, then gaim-encryption-3.0-beta6.

Alas:

Code: Select all

I've compiled it on more than just amd64 now. I have an x86 server, compile broke with the same error.

Someone is a bad coder. :D

setting use flag -nls for gaim-encryption got it working for me

Code: Select all

echo "x11-plugins/gaim-encryption -nls" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords
probably its some error on nls support?!!

Thank you! Now what in the world is nls? I would look it up, but http://www.gentoo.org/dyn/use-index.xml is a broken link.

I'm having the same problem here as well. I'm running a Hardened profile on x86.

tehdarkknight, nls stands for Native Language Support.

I'm guessing the problem is with gettext, I'm trying to downgrade to see if it fixes the problem, I'll post back once its done.

Edit: downgrading gettext to 0.14.5 didn't solve the problem, I tried with the latest ~x86 as well.

Edit2: Gaim-encryption-3.0-beta6-r1 fixes the problem.

Yay! Solved.

As a side note, the use-index.xml was only a 404 error for an hour or so after the downtime occured the other day.
