I'm getting the following error when I got into the directory I installed klite in and running "wine kpp.exe"
Usage:
kpp.exe <filename> [command_line]
filename = (Required) name/pathof file to load
[command_line] = (Optional) Command line to pass to <filename>
This comes up in a windows style message box (I can click OK and nothing happens). The title bar of the message box reads "Klite 2.xxx" whatever my verison is 2.10b or something like that

giFT is using the OpenFT protocol, this WAS once what kazaa used, but now day's kazaa uses a higher diffrent FastTrack protocol. _________________ sys0: Athlon64, Corsair TWINX DDR400 (1024mb), GeForce FX5600 256mb, 2x SATA MAxtor 120gig, Plextor 708a, Zalman cooling, Zalman powered, gnomed

Yes but giFT supports plugins and someone released a plugin to access the FastTrack network |

Uh, no... Kazaa never used the OpenFT protocol.
giFT once was a interface to the FastTrack protocol (partially...).. Kazaa 1.33 was a "security" update that changed the FastTrack protocol enough to break giFT. The original giFT developers left the project, as they could not break the new protocol's encryption. So, jasta, the former developer of gnapster, took over the project and decided to make his own protocol, openFT. |

I had to copy comctrl.dll and comctrl32.dll from my window install to get the buttons to look right. _________________ Mark Finlay - Gnome Hacker of Sorts

I'm getting the same error from a native winXP install I'm trying to run through wine. Did you solve this problem and how? _________________ Need to flame people LIVE on IRC? Join #gentoo-otw on freenode! |

Ok, I solved that by simply pointing wine to a fake win dir and installing kazaa through wine.
2 new troubles:
- fonts in the search dialog + a bit screwed icons: it uses some odd caligraphic TTF font. The answers are already in this thread so no sweat.
- when I try to change to a real share folder instead of the default in options the app crashes. So which dll should I add as a native one? _________________ Need to flame people LIVE on IRC? Join #gentoo-otw on freenode! |

Heh, I had the same troubles and didn't want to be pestered, so I just soft linked the shared directory to some place of my choosing. Working so far on a different partition. > _________________ www.ruinedsoft.com

I'm using winex, cause I learned how to get HL working in linux with it. Do I need to try wine to get my kazaalite, or can this be made to work w/winex (one of the 2.x builds)? I get the following error in a windows dialog when trying it in winex:
The file you wan to load (on the command line or in the registry string key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\K++\ApplicationName" or "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\K++\ApplicationName") does not exist or is not a file _________________ MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk

That sounds like something in the installer didn't work properly.
Try sticking this in system.reg between the Software\\FastTrack Accelerator and Software\\Kazaa bits:
Code: | [Software\\K++] 1052904954
"ApplicationName"="C:\\Program Files\\Kazaa Lite\\kazaalite.kpp"
"DDateTime"=dword:00000001
"FindMoreSourcesTimeLimit"=dword:0000003c
"I agree that I'm an evil cheater and want PL 1000"=dword:00000001
"IsKL"=dword:00000001
"KazaaStartPage"="file://C:\\Program Files\\Kazaa Lite\\web\\start.htm"
"MaxFileSources"=dword:00000008
"No.files"=dword:00000000
"NoCD_Clint"=dword:00000000
"NoExtraButtons"=dword:00000000
"Nokmdb.html"=dword:00000001
"NoKzscan"=dword:00000001
"NoSplashScreen"=dword:00000001
"NoSysTrayIcon"=dword:00000000
"NoTopSearch"=dword:00000001
"NoTopSearchVerify"=dword:00000001
"No_&noad=0"=dword:00000001
"PurgeSearchesOnExit"=dword:00000001
"RemoveBadIPs"=dword:00000001
"ScanForNewFilesTimeMilliSecs"=dword:000493e0
"SupernodeForce"=dword:00000000
"UnlimitedSearchMore"=dword:00000001
"UseHKEY_CURRENT_USER"=dword:00000000
"UsersCantCutInLine"=dword:00000001 |
Anyways... can't WineX and normal Wine co-exist peacefully?
In other news, the new Wine 20030508 seems to be a bit faster running KLite. Also, I have not tried it before, but I hear eMule used to take a bit of work in Wine. 0.28b appears to be working perfectly with no hacking, using the installer version. WinMX also is still working almost perfect.
EDIT: eMule crashes when updating the server.met. Using
Code: | [AppDefaults\\emule.exe\\DllOverrides]
"shlwapi" = "native" |
fixes this.
EDIT2: Expanding the download list is kinda weird... double-click on any download. It will either a) open the list for the *top* file, or b) crash. |

As I only use it for Halflife, anyway, and I hear it's OpenGL is better than winex. KPP is running pretty good right now, and I'll try Halflife (TFC, really) later on. _________________ MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk

I used a winxp dlls and they worked. I think I was only able to find the comctl32.dll one, and that was all that was needed.
BTW, the real names of the files are:
comctl.dll and comctl32.dll (there is no r). _________________ www.ruinedsoft.com
