I have a laptop with some variant of snd-hda-intel soundcard. My problem is that laptop speakers don't mute when I plug in headphones. It all works in windows (of course), but in linux, I hear music both thru headphones and laptop speakers, and that is kinda unusable in office environment (amazingly my co-workers don't appreciate Ramstein).

This is very odd.. I have an Inspiron E1505 with hda-intel (Sigmatel 9200) and my jack sensing works fine.. and a guy I know has the exact laptop but required a kernel patch to get this working with hda-intel..

I have no idea where he got the patch but I do know one exists..

Yeah at first I figured that it must be a hardware feature and that something is broken in my headphone jack, then I tried it out in windows xp and it works as its supposed to.

I tried loading snd-hda-intel module with different model options, but it doesn't really work, only difference is that I see different channels in alsamixer.
