And I've tried fixing the live include error with:

But then I run into loads of errors.

You probably need all of the following as your extraincdir:
/usr/lib/live/liveMedia/include
/usr/lib/live/UsageEnvironment/include
/usr/lib/live/BasicUsageEnvironment/include
/usr/lib/live/groupsock/include

Nope, that's not working either.

This should describe _pF_'s problem

I also did post about the other problems about this svn build a couple of posts above this one (http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-382903-start-200.html#3736472)
This is basically once you get past the "live"-problem, hitting some dvd, stuff >_>..

Would you mind checking these out nimue? You asked me to post what errors i get, but i had already posted em so.
I really fail to see how you can compile this cleanly taking into account all the errors I'm getting :/

Alright, checking them out now.

Well as far as your problems go, it isn't anything wrong with the ebuild itself.

Like I said, there are problems with the --livecodecsdir flag not existing anymore. There are some hacks to get around this, but I ran into the same problem upon using 'em. Thus I decided not to slap them in the fixed ebuild. I figure they took it out for a reason and that's because compiling them is icky as hell right now. When they took out the x264codecsdir command for a few weeks, hacking the configure option in didn't help much. It just failed miserably upon compilation. A week or two later, when the flag was FINALLY reintroduced, they compiled just fine. Just wait until the svn source has the flag again.

And, again, I never said that I got a clean compile. Just that I ran through the configure just fine with all the options enabled. I apologize for not being clear in this. I have gotten this version compiled, but it was without dvdread, live (maybe theora - don't rememebr), and vorbis. Try with that - if it still doesn't work, post the errors.

USE="aac aalib alsa altivec amr arts ass bidi bl color-console cpudetection debug dga doc dts dvb cdparanoia directfb dvd dv dvdnav enca encode esd fbcon gif ggi gtk ipv6 jack joystick jpeg ladspa libcaca lirc lzo matrox mmx mmxext mp3 musepack nas nls vopenal opengl oss png quicktime real rtc samba sdl speex sse sse2 svga tga theora truetype unicode v4l v4l2 win32codecs X xanim xinerama xv xvid xvmc x264" emerge mplayer

I'm almost positive that's what I ran - so have fun. Try disabling theora if it fails.

I tried that too hehe. If you want to hack it completely, run cp /usr/lib/live/*/* /usr/lib/live/ && cp /usr/lib/live/*/*/* /usr/lib/live/

That command, combined with the extraincdir will fix the 'file not found' shit, but you'll run into compile problems. Just wait till mplayer throws the flag back in.

im getting
Code:
Checking for inet6 ... yes
Checking for gethostbyname2 ... yes
Checking for GUI ... yes
Checking for XShape extension ...
Error: The GUI requires the X11 extension XShape (which was not found).

Check "configure.log" if you do not understand why it failed.
after googling the closest i can find is this http://lists.mplayerhq.hu/pipermail/mplayer-cygwin/2004-June/001067.html

On an unrealted note...

"EWWW! Azureus!"
If I wanted software that ate up 50% of my RAM and 90% of my CPU to do something as simple as downloading a file, I'd be running Firefox on Windows 3.11. Seriously - just use btlaunchmanycurses.py/launchmany-curses or the bittorrent GUI or... Bittornado or something else.

Anyway, onto the problem. It doesn't look like it's a cvs problem - what I'm wondering is what the eclipse shit is for. Eclipse is an IDE, not a compiler - so it shouldn't be showing up at all. Do you have it installed? If you don't, then try installing it and see if the error goes away. If you do, then unmerge it - also, check your JAVAC, JAVACC_HOME, JAVA_HOME, and JDK_HOME variables. Like I said, I have no idea why it's calling on eclipse - might need some template or some 'sample lol' library for its GUI. In that case, installing eclipse should fix your problem. Otherwise, if you DO have it installed, there's a chance something somewhere is fucking up and uninstalling it and fixing any silly stray variables would fix it.

20% of my ram and 1% of my CPU for 40 odd torrets i think thats fair

I haven't looked at the Azureus ebuild in quite a while, as the current "stable" version in portage works for me. The eclipse compiler is a dependency on amd64, as it's needed there to compile this shit, for some odd reason. I try to stay from Java as far away as possible, but in this case Azureus is the most feature-rich app. KTorrent isn't quite there yet, although it's starting to shape up very well. But I mostly switched to Usenet now, which trumps torrents, especially because I'm into various kinds of obscure stuff, for which very few seeds exist, so bandwidth is low.

For mplayer, you need to disable the live useflag, as well as several others at the moment. Or stick with 1.0_rc1 in portage, for the time being.

Just a heads up, gaupol is now in portage. Woots. Thanks for the tight overlay, yngwin.

yngwin, if you get the urge, would you mind creating / hosting a CVS ebuild for transcode? I've been meaning to make one for a while, but never got around to it. Plus your overlay is a better place to host it. :)

I would be happy to host it. But as I don't really use transcode myself, I don't feel the urge to make the ebuild...

Check "configure.log" if you do not understand why it failed.

weedy, did you use --as-needed?
i got XShape error with --as-needed, it may be minor check time error.
patch to fix.

Seems the nsplugins32 deb files needed by the ebuild have been updated.
Anyone have a copy of the required files for the current ebuild?

I tried updating the ebuild, but my internet connection is "unstable", especially on the large file directories where these files are and I can't get there to find the new filenames.

Here's a copy: http://snapshot.debian.net/archive/2006/10/18/debian/pool/main/k/kdelibs/kdelibs4c2a_3.5.5a.dfsg.1-1_i386.deb

Alternately the ebuild could be updated to the latest debian version (3.5.5a.dfsg.1-5)

Edit: fixed url

I've been quite busy with other things lately, so I haven't really spent time on looking at the issues here. Keep posting though, as I keep looking this up. I hope to do some work on the overlay over the holidays, hopefully resolving the mplayer issues.

I've added an ebuild for hellanzb (mostly an update from what is in bugzilla), a client for usenet binaries, that runs as a deamon.

Is any one else getting the following with the svn version of ffmpeg in the berkano overlay?? Is it an out-dated patch now, or just something temporarily broken in the SVN repository??

Code:
# emerge -av ffmpeg

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies ... done!

To me this just looks like too much has changed in the source for this patch to work any longer. Anybody else have thoughts??

You are probably right. I need to have a look at it. Does it work if you comment out the line with the patch in the ebuild and emerge with emerge --digest ffmpeg ? That's just an idea, haven't really looked at it yet. I will update the ebuild this week or next weekend.

It compiles....I will do some encoding and such over the next few days and see if there are issues.

Ebuild added for media-libs/mac - a monkey audio converter. Ebuild originates from http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=94477 with some slight changes. This works nicely with the script from http://lossless2lossy.sourceforge.net/ to convert ape files into something more regular (flac, ogg or mp3).
