Could not initialize SDL Video subsystem: NoAvailVideoSOLVED

I've just recently re-installed gentoo on this box and i followed all the guides, but i found this very interesting error:

w3bmast3r101@1337-Gentoo ~ $ /usr/games/bin/bzflag
Could not initialize SDL Video subsystem: No available video device.

when i grep to see if i have direct rendering

w3bmast3r101@1337-Gentoo ~ $ glxinfo | grep direct
direct rendering: Yes

and when i run glxgears

w3bmast3r101@1337-Gentoo ~ $ glxgears
7974 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1594.696 FPS
8143 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1628.542 FPS

I have an nvidia geforce 5500 256MB of ram and i have nvidia-drivers emerged
[ebuild R ] x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-1.0.8774 USE="dlloader" 0 kB

This is an xorg.conf file from a working system, but i've also tried a brand new one that the default config setup and it still has this error any help is welcomed

I had this same error with a different game, nwn.

I added "X" and "opengl" use flags to /etc/make.conf, and re-emerged libsdl, and that fixed it for me.
