Code:
Sending        skunk-sources/Manifest

Adding         skunk-sources/skunk-sources-2.6.20-r20.ebuild

There needs to be a way to get the ebuilds a lot faster. I wonder if it would be possible to get all the kernel developers to be able to email the ebuilds to an address and have it automatically added, or for them to have svn access. I understand it's your overlay, it's just it's not usually updated until it's requested.

PMFJI, but Excuse me! When VOLUNTEERS provide a service and do so on their own time for the benefit of others, your comment is out of line. This goes for the kernel creators, kernel ebuild creators, and overlay manager. If you are concerned that there is too much of a lag, maybe offer to help.

Oh hey, I'm not saying he's slacking in any way. If I did, I'm sorry about it. I'm just saying, in order to get it done easier.. Hmm, I wonder if you could co-ordinate with the patchset people to get notified before they release it, or just have an email they can email you about to tell you. That would be the best solution.

And remember, this is a suggestion, not a request, or criticism. I do tons of opensource stuff to, I know how it feels. Again, I'm really sorry if I came across rude before and now.

no harm done, really.... i like the e-mail idea, but I would still have to add the ebuild to the overlay and create the digest, I would rather give the kernel maintainers access to repo, or make a web gui where you could submit the ebuild via a form and scripts on the server create the digests.... even better would be getting this to be a gentoo hosted project :)

That sounds like a cool thing. I'm not trying to replace you, it's just that it's not like every user is going to go see if a new version is out, and you can't be expected to know about all <insert infinity symbol> patchsets and when they're released. I remember the good old days of the limited patchsets.

yeah I did not add dark-sources because I don't feel like creating/maintaining ebuilds, but if someone is going to maintain an ebuild I will add it to the overlay

Don't you think you're jumping the gun? I still generate digest files every time. You'll just have to keep deleting them!

i don't use your digests/manifests.... when I add a ebuid to this overlay I only copy the ebuild to the correct folder and then i manually create the digests so that shouldn't matter

This might be a wrong place to ask this... But since you must know about different patch sets, I'm asking anyways.

Is there a patch set for kernel that is mostly "conservative", but perhaps with some additional modules? What I would like to have is Gentoo patch set with UnionFS. I know many people would like to have for example Reiser4 or Suspend2 in the kernel, but otherwise plain vanilla. No ricing, just some additonal modules. For now I've patched gentoo-sources myself with the patches I need... That works and isn't too difficult, but still it would be easier if a kernel with those patches could be emerged.

the location of the custom-kernels overlay has moved so you all will need to use layman and delete the custom-kernels overlay then run 'layman -f', then re add custom-kernels
