Hello,
I have a problem with Quake III Arena for Linux. I can install it without any problems whatsoever, but it will not run. It'll open up a window, make it full screen, then terminate. I had the same problem when I tried Tremulous for Linux.
I suspect that it might have something to do with the drivers for my graphics "card", but I'm not sure, and I hope someone else who have a card like I do, can tell me if it works for them.
My card is an Intel GMA900, i915: Code: | * x11-drivers/xf86-video-i810
Available versions: 1.4.1.3 ~1.6.0 1.6.5 ~1.7.0-r1
Installed: 1.6.5

I rarely play any games, but it would be fun to have at least one FPS game available to play. :/ I hope someone can shed some light on my problem. _________________ Gentoo Hardened Linux 2.6.21 + svorak (Swedish dvorak)

Does games-fps/quake3-bin work? (it may be 'just' a problem with the quake from icculus ?) _________________ The End of the Internet! |

There are many variations on this:
Code: | #!/bin/sh
echo 'wine 0 0 direct' > /proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/oss
echo 'wine 0 0 disable' > /proc/asound/card0/pcm0c/oss
echo 'wineserver 0 0 direct' >> /proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/oss
echo 'wineserver 0 0 disable' >> /proc/asound/card0/pcm0c/oss
echo 'et.x86 0 0 direct' >> /proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/oss
echo 'et.x86 0 0 disable' >> /proc/asound/card0/pcm0c/oss
echo 'quake3.x86 0 0 direct' >> /proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/oss
echo 'quake3.x86 0 0 disable' >> /proc/asound/card0/pcm0c/oss
echo 'quake4.x86 0 0 direct' >> /proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/oss
echo 'quake4.x86 0 0 disable' >> /proc/asound/card0/pcm0c/oss
| This solution is all over the web. |

| This solution is all over the web. | Well, it didn't help. The problem lied somewhere in my user account setting, so I solved it by creating a new profile/user account on my computer. Thanks anyway though. _________________ Gentoo Hardened Linux 2.6.21 + svorak (Swedish dvorak) |
