I cant beleve it!
I downloaded the live cd on my existing gentoo desktop that took painfull years to learn to build and to use.
I burned a bootable cd with k3b (took a few trys)
I inserted the cd in my new to me toshiba satallight 2.6 ghz lap top
Next thing I know I am on the net in a web browser reading the live cd faq on the net in xml format (extreemly handy), scrolling with the touch pad, working in a terminal and installing gentoo graphically.
everything factory installed on then laptop just worked, x, mouse pad, keybord, cd/dvd, eth0.
Then a windows user asks if he can check out what is so difficult aout linux and I shay shure.
and low and behold we are running openoffice.
I checked almost every post install thing I could think of in the graphical installer
and hours unatended later I had a booting working gentoo system.
It doesnt get the net right on boot up but removing the dhcpcd pid file and restarting dhcpcd got the net
and the extra packages emerge failed on x-11 libs cario i believe
but what ever
thats is soo cool
I am very impressed with the live cd it saves this gentoo user alot of time.
now all I need to do is a little fine tuning.
wow
thanks folks
Has anybody elce been blown away by this or what?
I have always just done a minimal inataller cd man how long have I been in the dark?
