evil evas, either that or its the emotion in e17, emotions are bad in computers, rofl. oh well, I may have to design my own theme now, I was tempted to do it earlier but really liked the dark one I had... _________________ My Systems - "I suggest the whole thing be coded in whitespace. Back on Fluxbox 1.0RC2-R2.. |
Think I've seen that before, but still, great job at making everything match!
This is almost as good as the "My Little Ponies" desktop someone posted awhile back (this, though, it alot more standable then the pink theme) _________________ The day Microsoft makes a product that doesn't suck, is the day they make a vacuum cleaner. |

That seems to be a popular wallpaper. How well does KDE handle XGL at the moment? _________________ The day Microsoft makes a product that doesn't suck, is the day they make a vacuum cleaner. |

Very well. I've been running compiz for a couple months. I notice no performance difference between XGL/Compiz and kwin. One thing that's broken though is the desktop pager. It seems to be broken in nearly every window manager though. It only shows one virtual desktop even though there are four. (There's a patch on kde-look to get the desktop pager to work with compiz though.) Another thing is sometimes I leave my computer on while I'm at work, and when I get home 8 hours later, the window manager has slowed to a crawl. Minimizing or moving windows is extremely choppy. A restart of XGL fixes it. So clearly there are some bugs and stability glitches. Moving and resizing windows is also laggy at times, compared with more lightweight and stable window managers. A final quirk about using it with KDE is that you may be required to install a bunch of Gnome deps (gconf for example); but I have Gnome installed anyways so it's not an issue. Anyone who wants to keep things minimalistic is probably not running XGL in the first place though. XGL/Compiz is still plenty usable on a daily basis. It's also extremely easy to keep up-to-date via layman.
Occassionally another bug will come along that outright prevents XGL from starting, so you'd be very wise to keep a working Xorg install around if you start using XGL however. _________________ Obligatory hompage link. |

It seems compositing is pretty popular; every current or impending release of the desktop environments have support for the extension -- of course, XFce had it first.
I never realized how wild everyone kept their desktops; very inspiring indeed. Though, I still like my lighter interface, despite it being murder on this CRT. I can't wait until I get those two LCD panels. _________________ "So they turn the 'For every new Windows you have to buy new hardware' around to 'For every new hardware you have to buy a new Windows'."
