I'm having the exact same problem. I'm also having problems when emerging bison. Do you have that problem as well? I was suspecting that something went wrong when I updated to 2006.1 but on the other hand you're using gcc 3.4.6.... I'm on 4.1.1 so I guess it's something else. Maybe I'll try unstable.

The unstable version compiles well for me.

Thank you for your answer! I do not have any problems with bison. It compiles OK.

And... yup...! app-text/tetex-3.0-r3 compiled without problems. However, I have never used a masked package before.

Kind regards,

I think your fine if you specify that you only want that package to be unstable on that version. If I remember it correctly, you can write =app-text/tetex-3.0-r3 in /etc/portage/package.unmask. I think that would do the trick but double check with the handbook.

Thank you for your help! Everything works fine now. However, I would like to find out why the stable version did not compile.

Kind regards,

Same issue, same solution here! Looks like there is some issue with the stable version.

Its probably a known bug of some kind. Probably with a use-flag s.a. libwww or mysql. I don't know if its worth reporting since its fixed in the unstable version.
