As I had set up tftpboot for other purposes, I thought that I'd see if I could get my "Mr Coffee" JavaStation (OpenBoot 2.30, 64Mb RAM) working. I believe that Proll is not needed for OpenBoot 2.30.
gentoo-sparc-2005.0-20050413.tftpboot
gentoo-sparc-2006.0-20060219.tftpboot
...were both tested. Nothing happens. Get the JavaStation banner and that's it. No errors, no boot, no nothing.
I will do some testing with the instructions and binaries from http://www.zorg.org/linux/javastation-1.php and report back. _________________ Matthew Smith |

OK, the "doing nothing" was because I'd omitted the .SUN4M on the symlink names.
However, now everything just comes back as "The file you loaded does not appear to be executable", including the kernel and Proll images from the zorg site, which are supposed to be designed for this machine.
Has anyone, in any way, ever had some form of Gentoo running on one of these beasties? _________________ Matthew Smith |
