Code:
[ebuild   R   ] dev-db/mysql-4.1.21  USE="berkdb big-tables latin1 minimal perl ssl -cluster -debug -embedded -extraengine -raid (-selinux) -srvdir -static" 0 kB

With the above use flags, my /etc/init.d does not have any mysql script!!

Code:
gzipping man page: mysql_fix_privilege_tables.1
strip: i686-pc-linux-gnu-strip --strip-unneeded

Why do you use USE=minimal (this prevents the mysql server from being built)?

oh  that's stupid of me to not read useflags info. I thought minimal would mean only the barebones(though I don't know what that would be...)

thanks for pointing that out.

regards
