lynx -dump & nls?

Hi,

I want to process a website with a script. Therefore I need to dump it (wget -O - or lynx -dump); but in both cases special characters like äöüß are messed up :/ How can I convert a website containing such symbols?

with lynx you get it to be shown on screen so there is a translation
when you get it with wget it is just a copy of the web page. No translation
