I extract all files of 2006.1 minimal LiveCD to a HD partition.Then I use grub
to boot LiveCD from harddisk.The grub and grub.conf can boot 2006.0 from
harddsik correctly as same method .But in 2006.1,it seems like image.squash can't mount to the
cdroot which a parameter of livecd kernel options that I write in grub.conf.

This is my grub.conf:

Code:
title Grub to Gentoo LiveCD 2006.1
root (hd0,0)
kernel /isolinux/gentoo root=/dev/ram0 init=/linuxrc dokeymap looptype=squashfs
loop=/image.squashfs cdroot=/dev/sda1 udev vga=791
splash=silent,theme:livecd-2006.1 CONSOLE=/dev/tty1
initrd /isolinux/gentoo.igz

Use the 2006.0 minimal LiveCD then, that should work. The 2006.1 minimal LiveCD contains neither stage tarball nor portage snapshot, you need to download them anyway, so it doesn't make much difference if you use one livecd over another.

Positive definite!

Same problem! Tried everything.. and after an hour of trying, i descided to search for 2006.1 minimal on the forums.. So, reporting another non-working iso-extract-to-partition-start 2006.1 minimal (md5 checked from 2 different servers so cd is OK).

Strangest is.. that every other release works. I'm ok with it not working, but i'm still curious why it goes wrong. So if anyone could give more info in that, my brain is satisfied again.

More info:

Mounting the ISO, copying contents to partition (hda4 in my case), launching with the following Grub config..
Code:
title=Gentoo 2006.1 Install CD
kernel (hd0,3)/isolinux/gentoo append root=/dev/ram0 init=/linuxrc dokeymap looptype=squashfs loop=/image.squashfs cdroot=/dev/hda4 initrd=gentoo.igz vga=791 splash=silent,theme:image-2006.1 CONSOLE=/dev/tty1 quiet
initrd (hd0,3)/isolinux/gentoo.igz

title=Gentoo 2006.1 Install CD: NOFB
kernel (hd0,3)/isolinux/gentoo append root=/dev/ram0 init=/linuxrc dokeymap looptype=squashfs loop=/image.squashfs cdroot=/dev/hda4 initrd=gentoo.igz
initrd (hd0,3)/isolinux/gentoo.igz

title=Gentoo 2006.1 Install CD: Memtest86
kernel (hd0,3)/isolinux/memtest86

The memtest works offcourse, no loop squashfs needed.
