Continuing paused process/job in another vt?

Is it possible to catch a paused job/process from another vt? Let's say for example that I have 'emerge -e world' running in konsole in kde and I pause that with ^z. Now what should I do to continue that job/process for example in vt at ttyX? I know there's screen and nohup but let's assume we have forgotten to run either one.
