I'm trying to set up my really old HP printer... I tried to follow the gentoo printing guide, however I got lost at the part where i was supposed to grep for the printer drive, cuz foomatics didn;t have my printer in the database. where do i go from here? or am I screwed? |

have you tried emerging gimp-print-cups?
My Epson wasn't included in the foomatic drivers but the drivers were included in the gimp-print-cups. hope that helps _________________ Gentoo is a learning experience |

Your HP DeskJet 820 Cse is the same as an HP DeskJet 820C... (and there is a file for that in foomatic)
There are other problems with trying to set up an HP DeskJet 820 Cse though (i have one, and am currently agonizing over how to install the damn thing)
Once you install everything and try to print a test page from cups, the print job is immediately aborted and when you try to restart the print job it says client-error-not-possible.
Not quite sure what to do from there... |
