Not sure if this is the right place for this, but I have a suggestion for the Team maintaining the Gentoo LiveCD. Instead of using Gnome, maybe use a lighter desktop like XFCE or one of the Boxes, or at least give an option of downloading an image with gnome or another image that uses a lighter desktop. Gnome is too heavy for older systems and it is a painful experience using anything gnome based on a 600 mhz epia with 256 mb ram, compiling or not.
Just a thought.

| My LiveCD doesn't have Gnome or any other GUI for that matter ...are you talking about the Gentoo Installer perhaps? |

That option already exists. The CD you are looking for is the minimal one, it has a much lighter desktop.  |
