|
|
I was wondering, is there a binary package repository for Gentoo PPC?
I know that I am probably using the wrong terminology...
What I would like is the ability to install binary versions of Xorg and Gnome at which point I can cross-grade over to the self-compiled versions when I get time.
The problem is that I have a couple systems that I would like to get Gentoo PPC on, but I am under a time crunch.
I was trying to find some livecd versions like Sabayon or Kororaa, but have yet to find anything PPC.
If anyone can help me out here, it will be greatly appreciated.

You can always get a full install working on one machine, then use quickpkg to create your own binary versions of any package that you want. Keep in mind, quickpkg might not bundle the dependencies for the package you are creating.
For a quick introduction to quickpgk, try here. |

There isn't a binary package repository for gentoo and there won't be one (at least not an official one). You can use the GRP cd of the 2006.0 release. The 2006.1 release which should be out soon will probably have a mini dvd (or damn large cd) iso with newer binary packages. _________________ Please add [solved] to the initial post's subject line if you feel your problem is resolved. Yea, GRP was what I was looking for. I am downloading the CD now and it should make everything go a lot more smoothly to get these systems operational in the mean time.
Thank you very much. |
