It is not old.
Check the date of last posts and patches. Bug was opened for freetype, but that was not the issue.
I downloaded the patched binaries of oo-2.4 and it works with latest lcdfilter patches.
Check my screenshot with beautiful fonts and the one on the on ubuntu launcpad: http://launchpadlibrarian.net/11790243/ooo-2.4-cairotext-snapshot.png |

it is old and cairotext01 will go into OOo 3.0.
Why is it so hard to ask go-oo.org devs to use fedoras diff for OOo 2.4? _________________ hear hear |

Don't know where to ask. And as you say, it will go in 3.0 so i'm happy.
Could you include this patch in your ebuild? It works...
Still don't understand what is old.... ubuntu bug, cairotext rendering? |

Yes... but they already decided to not put it in 2.4.
Is it hard to put it in your ebuild? |

could you give me to direct link where that stands?
I am not interested to read a long bugreport... and ubuntu != ooo-build.
If you give a good reason... _________________ hear hear |

Good reason is that fonts look better. Only OO didn't use lcdfilter patches. All other apps do.
Never mind.... I'll patch it myself. |

aha, one has to add a new section for their distro to enable gcc43 patches... great...
another thing, mostly for fun, I try to add jemalloc allocator support.
what the mozilla devs praise... [1]
patch is already finished. heh...
[1] http://blog.pavlov.net/2008/03/11/firefox-3-memory-usage/
edit enabled jemalloc allocator build hangs with 2 procs executing build-time binary... ?! fun... _________________ hear hear

Since I installed firefox-3.0_beta with xulrunner-1.9_beta I wonder what pkg-config files xulrunner-1.8 has.
Right now I have changed my ebuild to support xulrunner-1.9.
Someone please tell me, thanks! _________________ hear hear |

That would be "xulrunner-{gtkmozembed,js,nspr,nss,plugin,xpcom}.pc" , at least in version 1.8.1.12

okay, xulrunner should do.
jemalloc as a static library seems to be a bad idea. ^^
last testrun as shared library made itself just useless.
libc malloc/free was used then... although linked in.
may be setup was fscked up then. heh.
anyone ever fiddled with an alternative allocator?
I wonder if I do a m12 release or wait another week for 2.4.0 release...
...a well, some more time for jemalloc. heh. _________________ hear hear |

incredible, the jemalloc author told me by creating a shared library and simply linking that in does the trick...
reading on web told me it was not that easy... mah
still, it hangs on a multi-process build. more interestingly, if I execute 'make' on console it builds with multiple processes just fine.
what the f..k does portage/ebuild do..?
I will add a wiki entry for jemalloc and openoffice.
have fun!
ps. anyone finds this easter egg in portage/ebuild that lets openoffice/jemalloc hang? _________________ hear hear |
