Sound disappears while changing channels in tvtime

Problem appeared after switching to kernel 2.6.17 (and also occurs on 2.6.18). Sound disappears while changing channels and also after muting/unmuting (after muting there is no sound, after unmuting still no sound). My only (pseuso)solution is to change audio mode to any other and then back to the proper one - after this you have sound. As one can imagine this is not very nice, because you have to do it after each channel change and it is unacceptable. On kernel 2.6.16 and below tvtime works ok. Please help if possible.
Some other info:
TV card is AverMedia based on bt878chip, tvtime 1.0.2, OSS emu10k1 sound driver for audigy, kernel compiled for SMP

Yes I did, but please note that on other kernel it works. Nothing changes but the kernel.
