i put the disk in. the laptop boots from the disk. then i see "boot:" so i press enter. it loads the two stuff. and because my laptop is weird (just like my desktop) it says that i gave an undefined video number and to press space to continue anyway. so i do press space. then my laptop reboots. basicly, it reboots within 10 seconds of booting up linux

sehwoo,

You must use the install-x86-minimal-2006.0.iso CD. The others are all made for an i686 class CPU.
The pentium 1 is a i585 class CPU. You will need to do a network based install as there are no precompiled binaries for you.

You must fetch the stage 3 tarball with i586 in its name, not i686 too.

There are other install opions if you have a gentoo install on another PC, or indeed any other Linux installed elsewhere.

i have two computers with linux on them. debian has internet but my gentoo doesn't have internet.

the only problem that i would have on network installing is that my laptop doesn't have an ethernet port or wireless card.
