Ok I've been doing this in my spare time for 3 weeks so heres what I know. I have an intel celeron d 3.06 ghz prosessor, and 2 hard drives, and a gig of ram(sweet, I know) I currently have windows xp pro installed on my primary hard drive. I put in th install-x86-minimal-2006.0 on a bootable cd that i got from the gt mirror. I burned it useing nero and Im prety sure it came out right. I put the cd in drive told bios to make cd primary boot drive. So, after that it boots [dr-dos] and comes out in the a normal dos eviroment with
"a\:>"
what am I doing wrong?
thanks for the help,
Ian |

Make sure that you burn the iso as a image, and not as a boot cd. |

Ya sorry about puting down bootable Idid make the cd burn as an iso. using nero. There is one other thing befoe it fully goes into a dos like promt[dr-dos]sit said something, quickly(a lot of information goes by quickly), about may hard disk drives being partitioned
C:/partitioned
D:/partitioned
Is it possable that windows has to kick the bucket before I can install? if so any tips? Sould i just use windows xp cd or is there another better
(non-microsoft related) product out there. |

The gentoo boot CD image does not boot to dos. Most probably you selected the "burn as bootable disc" option in nero to burn the gentoo image.
Do not do that. Just burn the it as a simple CD image. |

I'm probably stating the obvious, but have you selected boot from CD from your BIOS? _________________ Gentoo 2006.1 | AMD X2 |
