Has anyone seen it yet? I hear it is supposed to be excellent.

Saw it. Loved it. Want to see it again.

Incidentally, this is the first performance where Leonardo Di Caprio's performance didn't suck major donkey balls.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Just came back from the theaters and thought it was great!

Highly recommend it. ;)

I really want to see that film; I hope the wife and I can hit it next week.

About Leo: I really think he's not half as bad as most people make him out to be. Everyone seems to hate him, thanks, mostly, to Titanic, but as far as twenty-something actors are concerned, he's pretty good.

Have you ever seen The Man in the Iron Mask? It's horrible. Horrible, horrible, horrible. Would have been great if Di Caprio hadn't been cast as Phillippe, but he was, and it sucked. Ruined an amazing piece of literature, he did.

No, that was just a shitty movie. Pacino himself couldn't have salvaged that (though it may have been funny to see him try).

But look at the last three De Caprio films: Gangs of New York, the Aviator, the Departed. All Scorcesse films, and Leo is said to be good in all of them. Scorcesse is a genius. Scorcesse wouldn't keep hiring him if he sucked.

Don't get me wrong: I don't think he's a GREAT actor, but I do think that the "Leo sucks" trend is more the result of Titanic sucking than Leo sucking himself.

When he first came on the scene I thought he was a punk that looked like he needed a little roughing up. I've since seen him in a few movies in which I thought he was excellent. Catch Me If You Can, The Aviator and What's Eating Gilbert Grape.

Grape is actually the first movie I'd seen him in (watched it for Depp). Afterwards, I was more willing to see how he was in other movies. Catch had Hanks and Walken, so that made it an easier "risk" to take. After that, Aviator was a compellnig enough topic that I didn't think there was any risk involved.

Good film, bit involved - but good.

The wife and I saw it last night. Totally sweet. Alongside Little Miss Sunshine, it's probably my favorite movie that I've seen this year.

Actually, while I didn't care a ton for the movie, DiCaprio's performance in that was so good that when I did an imdb search on him after seeing his lackluster Titanic performance, I refused to believe that was him in Grape!

I think he could have been a pretty good actor if he hadn't been made into a star.

For those of you who didn't know the Departed borrows heavily from a Chinese Movie called Infernal Affairs. They just add an extra twist at the end, made Hong Kong Boston, and Triads Irish Mobsters. Overall a good adaptation though...

I thought I'd seen a Chinese movie called Internal Affairs, and I thought it was horrific. Unfortunately, checking with imdb doesn't help me determine if it is the same movie.

it was based on the hong kong movie infernal affairs.

it looks exactly the same to me except the start and the ending.

not bad, love that ending.

Saw it a little while back. Pretty good, but I don't see the award winning performances some of the media were talking about. Not to say anyone was bad, but I don't think any of the main actors stretched themselves.

SPOILER AHEAD

I thought the ending at the elevator was the weakest part of the movie. DiCaprio's character would not have been that careless at that point. I also thought it was pretty weak to introduce another cop on the take at that point as well, especially since it wasn't a character at all developed in the movie (had he even been on screen?).

that was the good part of the movie, it is human behavior, he thought he had got the prize! omg! He was simply too excited! and he just thought at one point that matt damon wouldn't let his collegues got involved because of his identity. Bang!!! life at the edge is just like that, one mistake would cost your arse.

that's how he screwed his life up.

I don't buy it. Even before it happened, I was expecting Damon's character to try and smash him in the elevator. Poorly written ending.

Wow another remake. Do the Americans hate the Chinese and the Japanese or what?

No, it's just that they can't read fast enough to keep up with subtitled films.

I have seen the Chinese one and it's not bad but I prefer the old classic like A Better Tomorrow, The Killer, As Tears go by.

Funny, I saw this movie last night :P It was nice, but the story (+ alot of beer) was getting confusing. I like the fact that they put Dropkick Murphy's - Shipping up to Boston in the movie :) Overall a pretty good movie.
