Anyone else having problems or get quake4-smp to work on multiplayer. I seem to be able to play the game it self fine, but when i try to join a normal dm or ra4 server the things crashes.

When i look in the main console for X i see..

Enabling SMP
Segmentation Fault
si_code 1

then it's stuck till i kill and restart X. Very strange as the game works fine.

Not sure about your problem, but did you do some FPS checks with smp=1?

I actually got slower framerates with multiprocessor support activated, which certainly isn't what I expected. I'm curious how somebody else's benchies look.

I get much MUCH smoother net play with smp, but like he said, recently it crashes and I have to kill if i try to use smp in multiplayer. It's a known bug, I think its linked to punkbuster or something because for a good while it was working for me.

Supposedly if you disable smp while entering the server then enable it after your already in it doesn't crash but that didn't work for me

aw man i was afraid of that.. i finally got the smp binary working.. haha hopefully they fix it with the 1.3 point release then.
