So i have 3 hard disks, 2 IDE and one SATA. I installed gentoo on hda, everything went fine. the other hard drive is hdd, and finally the SATA is sda. the root partition for the gentoo install is /dev/hda2 and my windows is installed on the first partition of sda (so /dev/sda1 i guess). so my question is this even when booting gentoo i get this error
Code: | root (hd0,1)
Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83
kernel /boot/kernel-2.6.16-gentoo-r11 root=/dev/hda2
Error 15: File not found
Press any key to continue. . .

and when i try to boot the sata partition i have this code
Code: |
rootnoverify (hd2,0)
makeactive
chainloader +1
|
and it doesnt boot either, i have tried (hd3,0) and (hd1,0) as well for the windows partition and it doesnt seem to be working. |

Cryptix,
Your best option is to use the GRUB console and auto-complete to determine how GRUB is calling your disks. You can also look at /boot/grub/device.map. _________________ Jorge.
