I have the same problem with a GRP install from the 2006.1 G4 packages CD. Does anyone know a way to change the language? _________________ Jacob Smullyan |

Provided that OOo has been compiled with english support it can be changed in the preferences.
I don't know if there are any command line argument acheiving the same thing.
I just switched from english to french and back so the procedure is as follow:
-Open OOo (with no documents)
-Go in the "Tools" menu (4th from the left)
-Click on "Options" (bottom item)
-You now have OOo settings window open, the settings are grouped by categories that can be opened
or closed in the left panel. The language settings are in the 3rd group from the top. When you open it 2
sub-category appears, the first one is "Languages" and the second "Writing aids". Click on the first one
which should be languages.
-In the panel on the right you now have several language settings, the very top one is the user interface
language. If you click on it you will see the languages available. Hopefully english will be one of them, I
don't know how the english language is named in German you may have to think a little bit.
-Once it is selected click OK (which hopefully is the same in German, otherwise it is the leftmost button
at the bottom of the right panel.).
-Restart OOo, et voila you have changed the language of the user interface, you may still have to tinker
with the language settings but now you should be able to understand the item's name in menus.
Hope that helps. |

As I said: I used no CFLAGS this time. Any experiences with CFLAGS?
I noticed one problem: If I open a menu and go with the mouse over the entries, the entry that the cursor is on disappears and comes back as soon as it moves away. |
I just upgraded to 2.2.1. Again. It did not compile. Same error as last year. Will try without useflags in the next days. Maybe we should filter them in the ebuild? |

What CFLAGS are you using? Using 7450 or G4 for your arch causes problems on some machines, using 7400 usually works for everyone. We don't filter it because it doesn't happen to everyone. _________________ Gentoo PPC FAQ: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-ppc-faq.xml |

Use these CFLAGS when compiling OpenOffice.org and it will probably work:
CFLAGS="-O2 -mcpu=7400 -maltivec -mabi=altivec -pipe" |

That did the job.
Thanks. |

Hi,
The harddrive failed on my PowerBook, so I bought a new one and reinstalled. The only failure in the whole process was Openoffice, which failed during install with 'ERROR: Could not register all components!'.
My USE flags for Openoffice:
| Code: | | [ebuild R ] app-office/openoffice-2.2.1 USE="cairo cups dbus kde ldap -binfilter -branding -debug -eds -firefox -gnome -gstreamer -gtk -java -mono -odk -pam -seamonkey -sound -webdav" LINGUAS="en_GB -af -ar -as_IN -be_BY -bg -bn -br -bs -ca -cs -cy -da -de -dz -el -en -en_US -en_ZA -eo -es -et -fa -fi -fr -ga -gl -gu_IN -he -hi_IN -hr -hu -it -ja -km -ko -ku -lt -lv -mk -ml_IN -mr_IN -nb -ne -nl -nn -nr -ns -or_IN -pa_IN -pl -pt -pt_BR -ru -rw -sh_YU -sk -sl -sr_CS -ss -st -sv -sw_TZ -ta_IN -te_IN -tg -th -ti_ER -tn -tr -ts -uk -ur_IN -ve -vi -xh -zh_CN -zh_TW -zu" 0 kB |
The problem seemed to my CFLAGS settings, because using
| Code: | | CFLAGS="-O2 -mcpu=G4 -mtune=G4 -maltivec -mabi=altivec -fno-strict-aliasing -pipe" |
failed, but changing to
| Code: | | CFLAGS="-O2 -mcpu=7400 -maltivec -mabi=altivec -pipe" |
succeeded and Openoffice is now installed and working.
I hope this helps,

Well we already talked about it to death there.
Be sure to read it in full.
Since the bug is closed you may want to open a new one I am not sure. |
