earlier in this thread I said that I synced everyday, that isn't as true now that I have portage rss feeds. I only sync when there is an update I want.

I sync like one time per month, unless I have a specific reason to sync before emerging something.
I also do two full updates per year. |

Same here. ~arch Portage keeps me coming back for more updates fairly often. Last sync was to get Gnome 2.14 & modular X, though.
It's a good philosophy. Just watch packages.g.o regularly. Takes a load off the mirrors, and saves wear'n'tear on your HDD.

| I sync a few times. a week. I have 4 gentoo boxes....3 of them mount a central portage tree on another box via NFS. Its automatically updated every other day via cronjobs. |

| I synch 3-4 times per week per box (work vs home), and do an emerge -puDN world probably once or twice a week. Why? It's fun. |
