Ok, i have a slite problem. I have a working copy of gentoo running. But i dodn't have USB mouse working, so I secrched around on the forum for a while. It looks like all i need to do is enable them in the menuconfig and copy that over the old one. This is where I have a problem. I have a makeconfig working, but when i do a makeconfig it has none of my last settings (and i dont remember how they where set cause i had help from a friend) (ps i cant get ahold of that friend) so is there a way of taking my current config and altering that with out starting from scrach.... or a detailed description of what a generic makeconfig should look like. I keep trying it by my self thrying diffrent combos (reading every help description) and i am still doing something wrong cause it never completes a make depp.

Your current kernel config should be stored in /usr/src/linux/.config. If it's not there, look in /usr/src for a directory similar to 'linux-2.4.19-gentoo-r5'. cd to that directory and see if the .config file is in there.

If all else fails, run the following:

Code:
find -name / .config

which will search your entire / partition for all files named '.config'.

I believe that emerging a new version of the kernel (i.e. gentoo-sources) will, if you're not careful, overwrite your existing .config file. That might be what happened if you can't find it.
