Is the FOOD forum even alive yet/anymore? I haven't seen anyone post since 3 days before mine.
We should set up a net meeting. I realize that may be difficult whatwith the different sides of the world and all.
Also, if anyone needs some picture hosting or something, I have a coppermine install... or I can just give someone some random space if they like. Not much mind you, probably hundred megs or so. As long as you don't start getting slashdotted or anything. _________________ | Starmen.net | |

Indeed, the forum is alive. New drafts and discussions are available.
Very well, many people with good will out here. I like you guys ).
So now coders, get together in the food forums and let your ideas flow. There is much to say and much to code afterwards, indeed.

have a nice day

p.s.: anybody with sophisticated AJAX skills could help make the database-frontend a usability-dream, that would be great _________________ Mein Freund, der Baum, ist tot. Er starb im frühen Morgenrot. |

There are not too many ways I can help someone out, but here they are:
1) I can translate from Russian to English.
2) I can provide webhosting, under an address like: afalko.homelinux.net/~yourusername.
-Upload sucks (<320 Kilobits), but is going to be upgraded during this year or next to ~2 megabits.
-ssh 2.0 access.
-Postgresql (As many dbs as you need).
-Php, always the latest version.
-Apache
-Initially <3.1 gigs of space, but have 100 gigs that I can spare if you run out.
-Access to just about any popular programming language (I'll install what ever you need upon request).
-Hardware is a Pentium4 3.08, 768 MB ram, mostly RAID 1, RAID 10 arrays, so you won't lose your data; runs Gentoo.
-Although this machine is up 24/7, I can't guarantee 24/7 uptime. |

We are currently in need of coders for the site.
We need people familiar with AJAX, javascript (i know...), PHP and database coders.
Also it would be really helpful if people who are good at graphics could drop a line on the forums we created and say hi.

On another note: I may need some space sometime in the near future to host some Java Web Start apps. ATM, it doesn't look like my current host is going to enable support. _________________

You're leaving England??
Anyway, my contribution to the project...
Anyone still unfortunate enough to use ISDN?
I have a Netgear RT338 Remote Access ISDN router up for grabs. It features one ISDN port, one Ethernet port, one Serial port (labelled "Manager"), and two Phone ports. It requires a 12v DC, 1.2A adaptor (not included).
I know nothing whatsoever about it, I've never even powered it up. It's just been sat here staring at me.
I will pay for UK postage.
Any takers? You'll need > 100 posts to qualify. _________________ Hysteriagaming.co.uk is now DOT COM! New design, forum, articles, the works! http://www.hysteriagaming.com

It is very weird getting on a plane on Wednesday and arriving at your destination on the Friday. Also i got off the plane and it felt like 7pm so i wanted a beer... It was 6:30am.

I've emailed/pm'ed a few people in this thread, and no one has gotten back to me =(
I was wondering if anyone would be willing to host my website for me. Its just a dumb little site where i put the pictures that I take with my friends, and a small blog. If anyone would host it for me I'd love you forever _________________ Blog

Hi everyone!
I am actually here to ask for help. I am part of a project, which translates KDE and GNOME into Kurdish. We are preety much at the beginning (about %6), Currently translters discuss things over e-mail and I thought starting a forum will be very good.
I need a host and a forum like gentoos. What else do I need and how can I get what I want?
Thank you very much. _________________ "Any fool can write code that a computer can understand. Good programmers write code that humans can understand." --- Martin Fowler,

rojanu,
The forums are a simple phpbb, the link to which is in the footer.
Space is going to be a bit more difficult as you need to find a host that offers mysql/php. There are a few links in this thread that should be helpful. _________________ [Owner/Operator: Dhampir Dreams]

Heya, I'm one of the member of Gentoo-Japan and recently assigned for GWN translation team.
although this is not necessary related to providing hosting nor coding I can help translate Japanese<->English, as long as it is related to Gentoo.
thanks.

Any decent JS coders here?
I'm looking for a Lightbox/Litbox derivative. I know they are plenty of them, but I'd like one that combines the effects of Lightbox 2 and Litbox.
Code are available for both, but I don't know anything about js.
Litbox can be found here: http://www.ryanjlowe.com/?p=9
Lightbox 2: http://www.huddletogether.com/projects/lightbox2/
You can drag the "windows" around, have events, and do all kinds of nifty things with them.
However, with Lightbox 2 you can have a series of images (or objects in the Litbox world) and cycle through them with your keyboard or mouse.
If someone could add the prev-next feature from Lightbox 2 to Litbox, I'd be very happy indeed. I have several small websites I'm working on (despite being a crappy web designer, but people keep coming to me) and I'd like to replace all pop-up code with this.
If you also combined the nice transition/loading effect from Lightbox 2, I certainly wouldn't mind.
Thanks again! _________________ Nihilism makes me smile. |
