Hello,

I have recently updated the kerner with emerge, but I have problems (wrong resolution, elements not positioned correctly, something about session log and checkpoint, etc.) when login. Probably I have to updated the entry in the GRUB, but I do not remember the kernel version number.

Is there a possibility to find which version I am using?

Thank you very much.

Best wishes,
Michael

Have just emerged the new kernel, or also configured and build? The kernel source are put to "/usr/src". There should be a link "linux" which points to the current sources. However, I recomment reading the correspondent chapter in the handbook again ;).

Regards,

Sino

Hello,

Thank you very much to everyone :) .

The problem I had was that something has happen with the conf files and gdm where no more used. Probably I did not have to just chose (in etc-update) to replace the original file with the update one.

Anyway, now I am building the gentoo kernel 2.6.16-r9 (wint genkernel all --install).

Anyway, better to re-read the doc :).

Best wishes,
Michael

cat /proc/version is another choice.
