Didn't you notice that xshm sucks balls? The scaling is horrible, the video is sluggish etc... xv looks so much better and is way faster. xshm is not even an alternative.
PS: Gergan Penkov, the bug was always present on my system, just needed to fix more important issues before dealing with this one. This makes me think once again that these 2 bugs are different ones. |

I'm quite happy with mplayer in the end. No more bug with xv, uses all the mmx mmxext sse sse2 flags.
Just need a nice GUI. |

VLC doesn't suffer from the bug either! VLC offers very nice features and has quite a nice GUI too. I suggest you try it asap
This confirms that the bug is in xine-lib |

Yeh, I do, but why would I need it
I got used to my custom mouse / keyboard shortcuts and I no longer see the point of a gui hehe. |

| Nevermind. The bug just didn't appear as predictably as it used to. It took about 5 restarts of kaffeine and then three movies to start acting up again. (an improvement?). |

I'm having trouble finding detailed information or a bug report on this issue. In fact I don't even know where I would file a bug report .
I did find some more detailed info on the mythtv wiki: http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Installing_MythTV_on_an_Intel_Mac_Mini_using_Ubuntu
The "Viewing HD Material and/or Using Xine" has a description that matches the problems experienced w/ my 915gm. I haven't tried using his driver (it's compiled for an intel mac mini) but it's good to know that the issue seems fixable. Any help is appreciated!

| I asked in #xorg on freenode and the user ajax told me that the issue was fixed in git (latest development release) but not the i810 1.6.0 driver. In other words it will be fixed in ~x86 on the next release, I'd hope. I haven't verified this because I can't find an actual official bug report for it, but I'll just assume ajax knows what he's talking about and cross my fingers. |

Diego Pettenò has now been assigned to my bug report on bugzilla. I hope he will find a workaround soon. But mplayer is there meanwhile so, let's not worry. |
