Hey I am too excited about KDE4 so I decided I want to test out the SVN while still having my trusty KDE 3.5.3 installed.

I tried using the genkdesvn ebuilds but they have some problems so I decided to use the kdesvn-build script provided by kde. The question I have is will using it get rid of 3.5.3 and also how would I use it after I have everything compiled and installed?

Read this page and use the information there to compile and install KDE4.

There's not much to see there yet, though. It's currently not really usable and you won't be able to do much with it. I tried it a few weeks ago and it wasn't worth the effort.

Thanks for the info, I might wait a little if there isn't much to see yet.

currently trunk looks like a broken kde 3.5. nothing to see or users. this will not change till the first usable qt 4.2 snapshots are released, because all the new interface stuff(mainly plasma) depends on this release. the qt4.2 release is scheduled for autumn, so the first snapshots should arrive sometime in july.

so i think you have to wait at least 2 months to see anything realy new. but i doubt it would be even somewhat useable at this stage.
