These are non-fatal warnings. driconf is a utility you can use to fine tune (tweak) your DRI settings for your video card on a global and per application basis. _________________ If God were a pickle, I'd still say "no pickle on my burger".

Perhaps there is something messed up in your xorg.conf.
Here's the relevant sections from mine...
Code: |
Section "Module"
Load "dbe"
Load "dri"
SubSection "extmod"
Option "omit xfree86-dga"
EndSubSection
Load "freetype"
Load "type1"
Load "glx"
Load "synaptics"
EndSection
Section "Device"
Identifier "855GME"
Driver "i810"
VideoRam 65536
Option "NoAccel" "false"
Option "backingstore" "true"
Option "DRI" "true"
Option "PageFlip" "true"
BusID "PCI:0:2:0"
EndSection
|
The IRQ comment worries me. Can you post your sections of the above from your current xorg.conf? I'd like to compare/review...
EDIT: Try this...
Code: |
export LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=true
|
And then run google-earth. It's not necessarily optimal, but it may get it running for you. _________________ If God were a pickle, I'd still say "no pickle on my burger".

This could be something broken in the driver vblanking for the 915. Can you try with the "export" command at end of my previous post?
Also, can you run the following and post back:
Code: |
dmesg | grep -i intel
dmesg | grep -i drm
grep -i dri /var/log/Xorg.0.log
|
PS: I just installed googleearth, and it works flawless for my 855GME using the same package versions you have. Only difference would be the card, it's setup and possibly any specific code related to that card in the Intel i810 driver. SO let's narrow down the things we can (i.e. config and logs to look for problems). _________________ If God were a pickle, I'd still say "no pickle on my burger".

fisch.auge,
Here are some differences I see...
1) Xorg.conf:
Mine has:
Code: |
SubSection "extmod"
Option "omit xfree86-dga"
EndSubSection
|
Yours has:
Not sure if it will make a difference, but you can try commenting out your load "extmod" line and replace with the three from mine in the "Module" section of your Xorg.conf. Restart X and try googleearth. If that works, let me know.
2) You are using the intelfb framebuffer driver. Try disabling loading of it on boot and see if that works. There may be an issue using the intelfb framebuffer device and have it properly function with AGP and DRI. Personally, I am using the vesafb (TNG) for splashscreen on boot. Let me know if that works.
These are the only differences I currently see, but not sure if they are the culprit or not.
Hope one of these helps. _________________ If God were a pickle, I'd still say "no pickle on my burger".

hey roderick
I tried both solutions but unfortunately none worked for me. Still the same errors :/
I disabled the intelfb as you can se:
Code: |

Intel machine check architecture supported.
Intel machine check reporting enabled on CPU#0.

can there be another problem with the kernel?
I would be grateful for any other idea!
Now I'm using the vesaffb for splashscreen, too... |

hey trumee...
try this:
Code: |
echo "=x11-libs/libdrm-2.0.2 ~x86" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords
|
note that you maybe have to replace the "~x86" tag... |

Are you using kernel 2.6.17? (am using gentoo-sources-2.6.17-r5)
Apart from that now I really see no difference between our setups... Weirdness... _________________ Plasma desktop on Core i7 8086K OC @ 5GHz, 64GB DDR4, 2 x M.2 Samsung 970 PRO 1TB SSDs |

It could be a problem in the kernel config.
Here's my setup:
Code: |
CONFIG_AGP=m
# CONFIG_AGP_ALI is not set
# CONFIG_AGP_ATI is not set
# CONFIG_AGP_AMD is not set
# CONFIG_AGP_AMD64 is not set
CONFIG_AGP_INTEL=m

# CONFIG_AGP_SIS is not set
# CONFIG_AGP_SWORKS is not set
# CONFIG_AGP_VIA is not set
# CONFIG_AGP_EFFICEON is not set
# CONFIG_DRM is not set
|
Code: |
CONFIG_FB_VESA=y
# CONFIG_FB_VESA_STD is not set
CONFIG_FB_VESA_TNG=y
CONFIG_FB_VESA_DEFAULT_MODE="1024x768@85"
CONFIG_VIDEO_SELECT=y
|

ah! we certainly have a kernel mismatch here, i am using
sys-kernel/suspend2-sources-2.6.16-r8
maybe that is the reason! |

Ah reminds me of that Suspend-Resume thing.
Hmm do you actually have it working nicely? I tried that a few months ago and it was really buggy. Like some daemons would never wake-up or some modules wouldn't reload properly. _________________ Plasma desktop on Core i7 8086K OC @ 5GHz, 64GB DDR4, 2 x M.2 Samsung 970 PRO 1TB SSDs |

After upgrading to Xorg 1.1.1 and Mesa 6.5.1 I no longer get the error messages; However, googleearth is still slow. Also, for some reason composite (transparency) has started acting weirdly, sometimes the windows stay transparent even when the window manager (KWin, in this case) orders them to become fully solid (I use 73% opacity for inactive windows and 100% for active ones).
I also tried upgrading kernel to 2.6.18. |
