Help! When I try booting with my own kernel, dmesg says:
keyboard: Timeout - AT keyboard not present?(ed)

and the keyboard doesn't seem to work at all. Neither does the mouse.

I first installed debian with a 2.2 kernel and everything was fine. Then I used that to install gentoo. Aboot uses the keyboard fine. But once I get into the kernel, there's no keyboard.

I also have lost interrupts on /dev/hdc (cdrom), but I'm disabling that for now (hdc=noprobe). The cdrom also works fine under the debian 2.2 kernel.

The rest of the install seems fine. I'm happily using the system via the network.

I'm using alpha-sources-2.4.20-r2. The machine is a Miata 500Mhz
(ev56 according to /proc/cpuinfo).

Anyone got a clue about this error? (I'm recompiling the kernel for a "generic" alpha, not a Miata to see if that helps. Will let you know if it does.)

Thanks

Perchance, are you using a MS keyboard with your Alpha? I used to have an alpha that would work fine with a MS keyboard under NT, but under linux, I had to go to a generic cheap keyboard.... I was never able to figure it out.

I'm using a Digital RT2258TW keyboard.

The new kernel fixes the problem. Once I get everything else configured properly I'll try and track down the cause a little more precisely.

Cheers
