Installing gentoo on an Xbox from a PC

I managed to flash the TSOP on the XBox, but Cromwell wouldn't load anything from the CD drive. I hooked up the hard drive to an Athlon XP computer and started the gentoo livecd. I started installing using the i686 stage (the wiki said pentium 3 but I couldn't find it). Is there anything that I would have to do that is different from the wiki's xbox installation instructuins? Also, how can I get binary packages from portage?
