Can't help you but at least you are not alone. Mine gets to 19 of 96 then starts again. I've tried 3 clean installs with both the LiveCd and min install discs with the same result. Hope we find a fix soon as my Gentoo machine has now been down for 4 days and I hate using Windows.

Is it stopping with an error and you do "emerge -e system" again? Or, is it just restarting halfway through on it's own?
If you are typing "emerge -e system" again, it will start from the beginning. Try doing "emerge --resume" instead. The other thing to consider is, why is it stopping? What error is it? If it's stopping due to an error, post the previous 30-40 lines above where it stops at so we can help fix the problem. _________________ http://www.1and1.com/?k_id=16196755 click me for cheap linux based web hosting. |

With mine it just re-starts at the beginning on its own, I left it running for 36 hours and it cycled twice in that time.

sys-apps/portage 2.0.54-r2 is out and has been marked stable!
Would this version fix the looping problem?
Has anyone tried yet?
Thanks! |
