Powerbook sleep and screen not working [SOLVED]

Here's the deal: pbbuttonsd works great until I start X. Then nothing works, I have to sudo pbbuttonsd, and then then the sound and the keyboard controls work, but the screen brightness won't. Also, when I sleep it, it seems to think it is supposed to heartbeat beep instead of sleep, even though it is set to suspend to ram. (I need to check if the sleeping is caused by starting X as well.)

Any ideas? Thanks!

EDIT: Nm, just reinstalled OSX - I have resolved to messing with OSX and portage for OSX (so I haven't left you! )
