Hello gentoo users!

I've a big problem installing gentoo because my install failed at code listing 17 when i tried to do the #env-update command!

i got the following message:

#env-update
>>>Note: /etc/make.profile isn't available; an 'emerge syne' will problably fix this.
>>> Regenerating /etc/ld.so.cache...

I set my SHELL variable to /bin/bash before, because I read the previous thread and Nitro told to do so there!

I tried the next step # source /etc/profile and then i got the following output:

# source /etc/profile
(none) / # (in a nice blue color)

Next i tried to # emerge rsync as described in the Install Instructions and then the I got the "/etc/make.profile isn't available.. " message again but rsync started and after a few minutes i got the following error output:

rsync: failed to connect to cvs.gentoo.org: Connection timed out
rsync error: error in socket IO (code 10) at clientserver.c (89)

I hope someone can help me!

did you do the following before running the env-update command?

Code:

chroot /mnt/gentoo  /bin/bash
env-update

No idea if thats the problem, but would be worth trying if you skipped that one.
