Hi, all.

I have just come back to Gentoo after giving up so many times, due to failure at the last hurdle.

I am now doing an install on an Ultra 10, and was wondering whether anybody could offer a good /etc/fstab. This is the bit that I always screw-up.

My ultra 10 looks like this:

/dev/hda1 /
/dev/hda2 /home
/dev/hda4 swap

/dev/hdb(? I imagine) cdrom

I went for this easy partitioning scheme, to limit the amount of screw-ups that I could incorporate.

I would really appreciate your suggestions.

Many thanks,

Chris.

How large is your /-Partition? Larger than 2GB?

Have a look at: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-sparc.xml?part=1&chap=4#doc_chap2

Hi,

It was 3.5Gb. I was happy with partitioning the disk, it was the fstab that I struggle with. Needless to say, I finished the install last night, and it failed in the same place as usual. I am obviously just not upto installing Gentoo. The box now has Splack on it, but will probably move to Debian Etch, when it is released.

Thanks for your help.

Chris.
