Hey Guys,

I am in need of some help. I've got gentoo installed and up and running with the help of reading this forum. But I have one last problem I cannot find the answer to. When I boot with the LOM connection and everything starts up normal. As soon as I disconnect the terminal connection the netra drops of the network. When I reconnect to it I am faced with the OBP prompt.

It seems without this connection the netra does not know what to do. Has anyone else seen this before and have a solution?

Thanks in advance
Jamie

My Netra X1 does this as well, usually drops off when I switch off the machine that has the LOM port connected. Seems to drop it back to the break ok prompt for some reason.

Only solution I've found is to reach for the power switch and reset it without the LOM connected. It's not very elegant but it works......

echo 0 >/proc/sys/kernel/stop-a (even better, stick it in /etc/sysctl.conf).
Basically unplugging the serial in many cases acts as a line break, which in sun-land that's a stop-a.

That did not seem to fix the problem. I also noticed that the machine won't boot up without the serial connection. Is there something that I need to configure in the OBP maybe?

Thanks for the help

Did you check whether autoboot is set to true in the NVRAM?

It was a problem I had with my Netra T1. It wouldn't boot on power-on without telling it to do so over the console :(
You can find how to do it here:

http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/801-7042

Goto the item: "Setting Configuration Parameters"

You can find the commands there!

Cheers, Peter
