So, I've gotten everything to get Xgl to run in Gnome properly (that's what i'm in now), but i cannot get compiz to run properly (i have the problem where the current window attaches to gnome-panel, etc.) Also I do not have an entry in gconf-editor for compiz (as the wiki states it should). Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |

compiz now uses schema files to add entries to gconf, the ebuilds need to be updated, in the meantime do like this:
Code: |
export GCONF_CONFIG_SOURCE="xml:merged:/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.defaults"
gconftool-2 --makefile-install-rule /usr/etc/gconf/schemas/compiz.schemas

locate the compiz.schemas file on your system, maybe diffrent versions of compiz install it in diffrent places. |

I also had to run Code: | source /etc/profile | as my normal user after I added the schema as root. _________________ As of April 2006 - Athlon64 X2 4200+ 1GB RAM - amd64-2006.0 profiled system with portage 2.1_preX, ck-sources-2.6.16, glibc-2.4-r1 (overlay w/-Bdirect&-hashvals), binutils-2.16.91.0.6 (overlay), gcc-4.1, Xorg 7 |

('find / -name compiz.schemas') but I found a backup of my previous installation (doing a fresh install) and used that. It didn't error out, so I'm crossing my fingers. _________________ Life without passion is death in disguise |

I have the same problem, and I did what you said, and I now have all the gconf entries for Compiz as I had them in Ubuntu, but they don't do anything - Compiz ignores them. Whats wrong??

No I'm using vanilla Compiz from hanno's blog. compiz-quinnstorm is masked and won't even compile.
