I will double check tonight that I still got something like that... meanwhile want to share details of your spec to see what might differ ?
Also I ran amd64 not x86.... _________________ "May God stands between you and harm in all the empty places where you must walk" - Babylon 5 |

Hello there, oh and I'm just drooling all over your fps. I'm struggling with my average of 11-20 fps during regular questing, and needless to say that's not doing it for me
I'm not the most graphically experienced user, but I think I should get more fps than that.
My stats are:
2600+ AMD Sempron
512 M RAM
NVidia MX 440
Glxgears runs an average of 1840 fps during idle time (fluxbox). Is this as it sould be?
If glx and nvidia works in xorg, does it work in wine too then?
Thanks, and happy wow-ing.
I'm on Bloodhoof. |

You can compare on that link below... (Windows data). Unfortunately you seem to have the best your card can do... or close to.

PS: reload page if does not display first time... odd behavior. _________________ "May God stands between you and harm in all the empty places where you must walk" - Babylon 5 |

Nice page, thank you. Argh, seems like I'll need a newer card. But maybe more RAM is a more pressing matter?
Edit*
I'm very happy with my experiences with nVidias drivers and support so forth, is it worth changing to ATI?

NOOOOO.... I switched from ATI to nVidia because of Linux support. ATI is way behind.
Hardware-wise, the video card is probably the most efficient investement right now. 512Mb of RAM is quite ok. _________________ "May God stands between you and harm in all the empty places where you must walk" - Babylon 5 |

Confirm average FPS 65.... with range 8.5 to 98 (data from Titan Addon) during regular questing (not MC). _________________ "May God stands between you and harm in all the empty places where you must walk" - Babylon 5 |

Hey man, for the life of me, I can't get Titan to work - but then again, I have Cosmos/Kaos running. I put the .nopatch at the end of my directory, but still no Titan bar comes up. Hell, I want to use it bad! What gives!
P.S. Anyone on this thread have any nice UI's? I'm looking for something that makes the UI clean and simple - think, fluxbox for WoW.
***EDIT*** P.P.S. I'm looking for people who play on Emerald Dream! Good God it gets bloody boring questing/pvp'ing alone! Any fun guilds/players out here? Cheers! |

sure:
AMD64 3800+
1GB 400MHz PC3200 ram (not dual-channel)
Geforce 6800GT AGP 128MB
on-board ac97 soundcard
i hope that's detailed enough. |

hi b1f30, are you asking for in-game UI's or window managers?
In WoW I run several "addons" like for example the Titan bar and discord unit bars and discord action bars, they are very flexible and highly customizable. No probs installing those, just unzip in the .wine/<wow-dir>/Interface/AddOns/ folder.
As for window manager I've run Fluxbox for a year now and I like it aplenty. I've glanced some towards fvwm, but since I've invested some time in fluxbox themes and menu, I stick with it.
Hope this helps, cheers!

I found a way to host a picture of my delicate UI

Wine has a native git repository, so you don't need to import the source from cvs: http://wiki.winehq.org/GitWine
basically boils down to:
Code: |
git-clone http://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git wine-git
cd wine-git
git-revert 412cb77d511fc370932e21e7945d6f902c6992fc
patch -p0 < /path/to/wine-wow-mouse-fix.patch
./configure [...]
make depend
make
make install (under root)
|
|
yeah, this could work but , the git-repository seems to be broken...
the git clone throws a error:
does this mean, the repository is broken? or is that my fault? |

This is original screen size but low quality jpeg so size of file is decent. 69.4FPS that morning but of course Blackrock was empty in the morning...
Neenee: you have even faster CPU ! Do you have a 64 or 32bits install ? what is your glxgear score with no forced AA or ANI ? I have 12900FPS.

Got my copy of WoW today and managed to install it from CD. Since there wasn't any info on the Gentoo Wiki yet I added instructions for installing WoW from CD. |

Now that's one clean UI. I downloaded a version of NerfedUI but it got bugged, switched to discord. Mind telling me where you got your version of nerfed from?
I'd put up my UI too, but I don't have anywhere to host it...
Psy, doesn't this thread explain how to install from CD... hmm, remember reading it somewhere.
Just a side note to anyone installing it for the first time: I downloaded the dll's needed from the Internet somewhere, instead of downloading and installing the entire programs as you are told in the first post of this thread. |

But I don't use all mods from it. I don't like their UnitFrames, so I just used:
Nurfed_ActionBars
Nurfed_General
Nerfed action bars are cool, but can look awkward at first start as you need to set them up.
Most of others addons come from www.curse-gaming.com _________________ "May God stands between you and harm in all the empty places where you must walk" - Babylon 5 |

Hey man - I'm still using Cosmos with great success though I admit what it does kind of scares me. I love your setup dude. I'll stop posting on this thread now and send you a few PM's if that's ok.
What I meant by 'ala fluxbox' was that I like a nice clean and slick game UI - much like the one you have. Zap me a PM and give me a few details! I really like your setup. What I would really like to do, is trim down my buttons and have my textboxes on the left (chat) and right (combat) each shaded about 50%. Have you dug into lua/xml and made anything on your own yet?
Nice looking UI! Me want!

I just did a git-pull and I didn't get this error. Try to resync now, maybe there was a problem that has been resolved since. |

goblin I have a TI 4200.
I switched all special effects off and terain about 50%. Runns great here. Even with 10 fps it I still dont see a lot of juming around.
IF I have of course about 0.2 fps for a long while But when its loaded it works fine.
I gotr a AMD 2000XP and 512 MB Ram.
I read in aspecial WoW guide that if you upgrade your Ram 1024MB a lot of Memory to disk operations do not occur since a lot of stuff is kept in the Memory. Thus you dont get lags that occur from loadtimes. (I.e. IF) But seems to have only a small effect for my friend.
Best UI is Insomniax.
I changed only Bibbars for Discord Action Bars (Its worth to use 3.0 Version). And some flavoured Addons I like (easy Chat Change, Character Viewer, stance sets, KCI Items instead of Auctioneer because of the better memory perforamnce)
For the Easy to use Operations Insomniax_Bibtoolbars is the best UI around
The Addons can kill your peformance to. So I stopped useing Cosmos quite fast...
Hope I can pay for subscription again soon
Legine
At last:
Insomniax Screenies I found the thread (In same forum you get Insomniax too. look a bit Around (in the wow section of course ))

I think so, I got about the same results in windows some time ago, using a 512Mb machine but freeing a lot of memory:
most of the services where not loaded, no resident programs(and no mods), and I got about 1-3 secs for IF to load and framerate to be >30
(sempron palermo 3100+, geforce 6800 128 Mb). So I think you need about 500-600Mb of free ram to run it fine...
(a "standard" XP system have about 150-200 Mb of ram used,I'm not sure in Linux since memory is managed in a different way....) _________________ Every day a new distro comes to birth. Every day a distro "eats" another.

I installed WoW straight from the CDs, updated, all of that worked without a hitch. Everything works just fine with the exception of the goddamned mouse targetting problem. I can't highlight anyone or enemies, can't loot bodies, nothing.
And that was -before- I tried the patch to fix the mouse problem. Afterwards, nothing.
What the hell? Someone mentioned recompiling opengl32.dll without the patch but I've no idea how to recompile just the dll...
I'm running wine-20050930 |

Glxgears isn't a good benchmark. I have a 3100+ sempron (REV.E: palermo) +512 Mb/333 Mhz ram + xfx geforce 6800 128Mb(non ultra, factory settings)
and I get 52453 frames in 5.0 seconds = 10490.588 FPS , but I'm pretty sure the difference between my system and yours is bigger.

Anyone else is using a Radeon 9000 Mobile? I like to compare my score. glxgears=2075 FPS fglxgears=336 FPS. Maybe there is some thing to tune?

yup, i know, but at least i'd know there was something wrong over
here if my 'score' was drastically less (several thousand points),
i was once wondering if my PSU provided enough power, but i doubt
that's the problem here. |
