Hola people!

one question for ya!

If some project release version 1.9 of some product how can they release 1.10 in the next release, would'nt it be version 2.0 then? if they wanted to release a version 1.10 then they need to have a version 1.09?

(Im tired and not that good at math (when Im drinking ;) ... ) and had a few beers please mind :) )

regards!

The dot is a separator, not a decimal place. Version numbers are only of importance to marketing departments, who are too drunk to be good at maths (or "math" for the non-English and plural-deficient). Geeks see a new version, which is all we need to know 8)

Yeah, don't think of it as an actual decimal number. Instead, look at the numbers between the decimal places.

Using 1.9 and 1.10 as an example:

Version 1.9 can be seen as major version 1, minor version 9. And so version 1.10 can be interpreted as major version 1, minor version 10. Therefore, it is greater (newer) than version 1.9.

I'm sure there is a better way to explain it, but hey :D

Do you think it looks stupid for there to be version 9.0, then version 10.0? Probably not. Think of it the same way. ;)
