Hello,
I wonder how to starts arts (standalone) in realtime mode. It works fine, when using kde (artswrapper is setiud), but not when starting standalone (i.e. for use with windowmaker and non kde apps)
"artsd -h" does not offer a "realtime" switch.
Usually I start it with:
artsd -a alsa -D rmespdif [-d]
Now, how to get this thing running with real-time priority ? I have not found anything in the startkde script.
Since, otherwise my sound is too choppy and therefore useless. |

Hi I had that problem too. Here's what I did to solve it.
chmod 4755 /usr/kde/3.1/bin/artswrapper
Will set the uid for artswrapper to run as root, artswrapper will then run artsd in real-time scheduling automatically.
Hope it helps you!
