Documentation seems to be scarce -- does any know of a good guide or know how to do this?

What about just having two config files/directories and DocumentRoots and starting Apache once with each config file using the "-f" option?

Btw. what do you need two instances for? You can still have different DocumentRoots at different ports or hostnames in a single instance...

have 2 conf directories and using the -f option doesnt seem to work. Its wierd -- it doesnt error out, but netstat does not show the second VH ports coming into listen state.

Why do this? Multitiered web application with multiple services running on identical/multiple legs. Need an easy way to disable a specific service on one leg.
